Well I cant blame you for being fearful of sitting in a 200 ton piece of metal hurling at over 500 miles a hour at over 40000 ft. Like thats just not normal. Forget the fact that a 747 is made up of over 1600000 seperate parts all supplied by the lowest bidder and put together by man who for some reason might be having a shitty day or is having first signs of dementia. Christ Im taking the bus! And you cant always trust the critters like a canada geese who might be suicidal, or heaven forbid some

Hola Michelle, Seeing what was going on did not help me – like being at the dentist, I always shut my eyes before the needle goes in.

In reply to rob innis. Hi Rob--funnily enough I always felt more safe in a small aircraft (even though the larger planes have many more safety checks!). I think it's because I can sit next to the pilot and see what's going on.

I have never really had a problem with large plans but recently agreed to fly in a small single engine (Cessna type)and to be honest once was enough!
