There are many cheap flights to Miami that head into the Miami International Airport. This airport is also called “Wilcox Field” and “MIA,” and is located northwest of downtown Miami. There are three terminals: North Terminal, Central Terminal and South Terminal. These are then further divided into gates.

Miami International Airport (MIA) Information

The Miami International Airport (MIA) is currently undergoing massive transformations. They are demolishing old concourses to create new ones. Amenities at this airport include public art, a chapel, a hotel, lost and found, ATMS, currency exchange, restaurants, Wi-Fi, paging, a post office, luggage carts, shoeshine, shops and spa services. Make sure to check which concourse has the specific service you are looking for.

Airlines That Fly Into Miami

Miami International Airport (MIA) is one of the busiest American airports in terms of international flights and international passengers. MIA handles flights to the Americas, Europe and the Canary Islands. There is much passenger traffic at MIA, as is the primary airport of southern Florida. It is a hub for American Airlines, Executive Airlines (under the name American Eagle) and Gulfstream Airlines (under the name Continental Connection). Other major airlines that serve Miami International Airport include Avianca, Delta, Insel Air, TACA and Lufthansa.

Bus to city

  • Fare: $2.00
  • There is the Metrobus, which is a local bus service that goes all all areas of Miami-Dade County. The station for this bus is located in Concourse E, at the ground level, by customs. Route 150 Airport Flyer will take passengers downtown, and the rest of the buses will take them to the Metrorail system or the Metromover, which also go downtown.

Train to city

Taxi to city

  • Fare: $25 approximately
  • Taxis are located outside of the baggage claim areas, on the ground levels.


Other options

  • For those who arrive late at night, there is an inexpensive Airport Owl Shuttle that goes downtown. It operates daily from 11:50 PM to 5:40 AM. There are also the SuperShuttle vans that will take passengers downtown for about $15.

Car Rental Companies at Miami International Airport

Currently, the car rental companies are located in the terminal baggage claim areas. As of may 2010, they will move to the Rental Car Center (RCC).
