Travelers who are looking for cheap flights to Phoenix can easily find tickets to the Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. This airport is also called “Sky Harbor,” and its motto is “America’s Friendliest Airport.” It is a joint military and passenger public airport, and is located east of downtown Phoenix. This airport has over 120 gates within 3 terminals, which are numbered 2, 3 and 4. The biggest is Terminal 4, which is also called the Barry M Goldwater Terminal, which over 90 gates. All international flights go into Terminal 4.

There are some ongoing projects in development at the Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX). There is an Automated People Mover in development, to shuttle passengers from 44th and Washington streets to Terminal 4. They are also working on adding another concourse to Terminal 4. They have just completed two new taxiways, which are located at the northwest part of the airport. Amenities at PHX include public art, lounges, shops, eateries, newsstands, currency exchange, free Wi-Fi, pet parks, smoking areas, play areas for children, lost and found and passenger paging.

The Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX) is the biggest and busiest airport in the state of Arizona. US Airways uses PHX as a major hub. Some major airlines that operate through this airport include Air Canada, Alaska Airlines, Continental, Delta, Southwest, JetBlue, Southwest and United.

Bus to city

  • Fare: $1.75
  • The bus lines Route 13, Route 15 and Route 40 all service the airport, but the Light Rail is probably a better option in terms of public transit (see “Train to city”).

Train to city

  • Fare: $1.75
  • There is no train directly from the airport, but there is a free shuttle bus that takes passengers to the 44th and Washington streets METRO light rail stop. This shuttle stops at all three terminals at the airport.

Taxi to city

  • Fare: $19 approximately

Other options

  • There is a SuperShuttle bus from PHX that operates 24 hours a day. Passengers can catch it from Terminal 2 on the north curbside; from Terminal 3 on the north and south curbside; from Terminal 4, on level 1, from the north and south curbside.

Car Rental Companies at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport

It is recommended to make a reservation for cars from this airport. The car rental companies are located in a separate building, but passengers can take the Car Rental Shuttle there, which departs from the curbs of the baggage claim areas outside each terminal.
