How did you become an expat, and why?

Why ?
Wanted a change of lifestyle, away from the UK rat race and the cold.

How?
Simple sell everything in the UK and move to Spain.

It has changed a lot but you fall in love with the country and the people.

Where else have you been an expat?

Just Spain.

Best piece of expat advice you’ve received?

Relax, don’t try and do too much all at once especially in August (It’s too hot!)

Best piece of expat advice you’d give?

Do your research first, get organised, be legal and learn at least some of the language.

Favorite expat related web sites?

Just google and you find…

Are you planning or dreaming of a move? Are you going home instead? Where to and why?

Surely we all have dreams, mine – who knows maybe a move within Spain, I don’t think a return to the UK is on my agenda.

Tell us more about what you do in your location?

Would you recommend your current location to other expats? Does it rock or does it suck?

This is not for everyone – some people love it and I do understand that some hate it – we are all different – looking for different things. Spain can be noisy, hot and frustrating….like I said it is different!

What is the expat community like where you are?

I do have good Expat friends – but Brits can be strange animals abroad. You have to choose your friends carefully especially in business matters.

Anything you’d like to add?

People must think it through – relocation if you have children, no guaranteed income or other UK responsibilities makes it a tougher decision. Don’t think it is all sun – working here is difficult at the moment, and if you have no Spanish extra difficult. Be realistic.

Thank you!

Thank you, Rob, for participating in our Expat Spotlight! We wish you success and happiness in your current location, and wherever your dreams and business endeavors take you.
